Importance of Steam Cleaning? What is Dry Steam Cleaning?

Why steam?

Steam cleaning is a method of cleaning which uses a steady stream of steam to annihilate viruses and germs. The essential, deep, deep clean. Applying a steam clean finish to your traditional cleaning can seal the deal, especially to those areas that are hot spots or areas frequently touched, handled, and heavily trafficked.

Dry steam heat, when applied, will kill many viruses, bacteria, germs, mold and mildew with no chemicals. Chemicals are unnecessary with steam cleaning, making it environmentally friendly and because it is dry steam, over saturation is unlikely.

Dry steam cleaners produce very hot steam that contains less than 5% water. Anything you clean will dry quickly, leaving no opportunity for mold to grow.

Dust Mites And Why Removing Contaminates Is Important

Dust and dust mites can build up and become embedded in your carpets, rugs, upholstery and mattresses, while dirt, grime and grease accumulate on surfaces.

You can’t see dust mites, mold, bacteria and other microscopic contaminants, but these pathogens can make you ill, resulting in allergies and infections.

By using a steam cleaner regularly, you’ll eliminate these prolific allergy triggers. What you can’t see can hurt you. Some allergic reactions can turn into asthma, especially among children.

Dust mites love to hide in some of the previously mentioned items and quilts, pillows and stuff animals where they feed on flakes of dead skin from humans and animals. Their water matter triggers allergies and asthma.

Consider the following. The average dust mite produces about 20 droppings per day and your mattress contains millions of dust mites.

Essentially, you’re living side by side with these microscopic creatures. Cleaning with hot steam, followed by vacuuming with a HEPA vacuum will make a significant difference in your home’s air quality and your family’s health.

Have you ever sat on your couch, snuggled up for a movie, grabbed your favorite couch pillow and realized hmm not so pleasant of a smell?

For items in the home that cannot be thrown in the wash, dry steam cleaning is great!

Regularly dry steaming for throw pillows and cushions will keep them smelling great and kill unwanted germs. This is also terrific for mattresses, animal beds, children’s toys, even curtains and window treatments.

If you have young children, anything can happen. You may need to remove unfriendly smells where you least expect.

Food finds its way into the most hard to get to corners and you don’t know it’s there until hit with a whiff of un-pleasantness.

DRY STEAM CLEANING- KILLS BED BUGS!

Some tools used in dry steam cleaning can reach these areas, loosen debris and kill off the bacteria. Did I mention it can also kill bed bugs and larvas?

When I steam a mattress; all sides and crevices get steamed, and because the drying time is minimal, the bed can be made up just afterwards. Using this method on baby cribs, toys, car seats is great.

Also, dry steaming play pens, dog crates, scratch towers, luggage and backpacks are a good option for cleaning. Because there is virtually no drying time, which makes for a quick and efficient sanitizing and disinfecting. And you can dry steam clean frequently.

Purification

Let’s talk about air purification. We all know there’s a plethora of bacteria and germs floating around in the air. Dead skin cells, dust mites, and a bunch of other particles we can’t see with our naked eye.

Kill Airborne Germs

Using dry steam cleaning in various parts of the house, and where steam is released into the air, will kill airborne germs.

After cleaning, follow up with this dry steam cleaning method. The air will smell better without a chemical lingering smell.

Need to give your curtains and blinds A Once Over.

Curtains and blinds can be hard and tedious to clean especially if they have to be dry cleaned, which means dismounting, and dismantling them to take to the cleaners.

If you look at the cost of dry cleaning your curtains and draperies, the price can be costly. Often people do not clean their drapes as much as they should. Some believe” they’re not dirty, so I don’t have to clean regularly” but this is not true,

Curtains/drapes are gathering all the things swirling around in the air, from the shaking out of fabrics, soot from candles and fireplaces, even smoking devices, just to name a few.

Pull-down blinds are very difficult to wipe. The fabric ones, you can’t really vacuum them. The vacuum will inhale and destroy them. Dry steam cleaning to the rescue!. Not only that, but you can do it more frequently. Any upholstered furniture could use a good dry steam clean.

AREA RUGS CAN BE DRY STEAM CLEANED

Dry steam cleaning is also a terrific solution for area rugs, and certainly those rugs that are more delicate and can’t stand up to a carpet shampooer.

When dry steaming carpets, you will not experience the saturation of wetness. For area rugs, over saturation has the potential to actually damage the floors. That’s why dry steam is ideal.

Clean Your Grout With Dry Steam

Dry steam cleaning is also great for flooring grout. It will blast away what you have mopped around and traipsed over. It can help remove the dirt that has settled on the floors, as well as whatever has been dribbled and dropped. (By people or animals)

On a more serious note, some households may have a member that might not be feeling or doing well medically. This is a great way to keep things purified, so the recuperation is swift and speedy. Some people with medical issues are very sensitive to certain chemicals.

ALLERGIC TO CHEMICALS

Steam cleaning can also remove chemical residue. Many people are allergic to the compounds in harsh cleaners and can suffer adverse reactions. Other health problems that chemicals can produce include:

  • Eye, skin and throat irritation
  • Headaches
  • Asthma and other breathing problems

The Dupray Neat and the Dupray Hill Injector Steamer. Both produce great steam cleaning results. The Neat is easy to move around. It is a 1 foot cube like steamer which comes with several attachments and several micro fiber options as well.

The Neat, however, has to cool down and depressurize before adding more water. Dupray Neat is great for home use. It’s quick and lightweight. It takes care of several things that may come up.

The Hill Injector-Steamer is a powerful, portable commercial steamer, which can you continuously fill with water while it is still hot so that there is no downtime.

You don’t have to wait for it to cool off before you can add more water. That is a major difference between the commercial cleaner and the Dupray Neat steamer, which is typically meant for home use.

Steam has tiny vapor molecules that penetrate the surface pores of many unique items. These vapor molecules quickly expand to force out embedded dirt, grease, bacteria and essentially all harmful particles to the surface.

High temperatures produced by the unit kill viruses, bacteria and other pathogens like E.coli and Salmonella, leaving your item clean, deodorized and sanitized in a matter of minutes. Say goodbye to infections and say hello to easier cleaning the next time around.

The dirt is essentially blasted away into the environment, although for some applications, you can use an extractor or a vacuum to finish the job. Hard surfaces can benefit from wiping with a microfiber cloth.

Steam cleaners are strong enough for the toughest tasks, yet because of variable controls, you can also use them on delicate surfaces without harming them.

YOUR CAR

Using a steamer to remove stains and grime from your car’s interior and exterior and windows is highly efficient.

When you detail your vehicle with a steam cleaner, it will look like new again. With the attachments, you can even use the system to remove oil, grease and engine buildup, ultimately prolonging the life of your vehicle. And the removal of unpleasant smells.

Also great for deep cleaning appliances, especially your washer and dryer with all the hard to reach places.

Faux plant cleaning becomes a cinch with a steamer. These plants and floral arrangements gather tons of dust and can be quite tedious to wipe, wipe, wipe. As well as being an investment, you can keep up.

Basically, you can use a steamer in every part of the home, car, outdoor furniture, grills etc. Without the use of chemicals, you can freshen indoor air quality, and of course, kill many germs, bacteria and viruses, not to mention dust mites and bed bugs.

The steam cleaning methods are safe to use on glass as well. Many people are sensitive to glass cleaners. This as a DIY solution works pretty well.

Steam cleaning your glass is a terrific alternative for your interior window cleaning, like bathroom mirrors and all other mirrors throughout. I’ve used it on glass table tops (works great, especially the underside.).

Using it on the glass table tops can also take away the concern of having any kind of chemical residue left behind where our hands are touching a lot. I would also like to include outdoor furniture glass, pre-treat because of mineral deposits, but following up with a steam cleaning again will remove any chemical residue, making it a food safe area.

Blast Your Air Ducts

I would even blast air ducks and vents. And when you remove the air filter from time to time and blast the entire area. I usually vacuum away the dust and dirt as I wipe it down, but I shoot the steam throughout.

For crevices, the crevice attachment is great for shooting it down into the drains up under the creases, where the sink meets the counter. And where the backsplash meets the counter, especially if you have a faucet so difficult to get to spot and there’s a wall right directly behind it.

Also these tools are great for cleaning, windowsills window tracks, sliding door tracks, and the backsplash in the kitchen.

If your bathroom collects condensation on the ceiling and you get those little orange dots, or mold and mildew, the steam will kill your mold and mildew issues.

It’s a wonderful treat to have somebody come and steam clean as part of your professional cleaning. It really gives you back your time.

However, for those of you who love to do it yourself in between professional cleanings it takes anywhere from 7 to 10 minutes for it to get pressurized and ready for steaming.  This is great to have as a household cleaning device.

Blast your doors and doorknobs, the hotspots in your home, your entryways, door frames, countertops, toilet seats, sinks, faucets.

These areas may be free of debris and dirt, but you can frequently steam through your house quickly and easily to kill germs and bacteria your guests have left behind. And certainly if you have pets, it’s nice to just blast their beds.

Don’t forget your cat trees, even their eating areas, to keep these areas free of bacteria and germs as well. Remember, no chemicals are necessary, so you can just steam away the germs.

Happy Cleaning,

Susannah
